What we did on Saturday

It's Girl Scout Cookie time...Mike ordered a bunch from this little Daisy Scout, "Rose" who came with her parents to deliver cookies....

All those boxes in the background are Johnny Mike's Girl Scout Cookies!

"Thank you for supporting Girl Scouts you owe me $98.00!"

Helping Doc poop-scoop

My raised beds just hanging out and waiting to receive all those darling little seeds!

This dance routine accompanied an original song that "Rose" just made up on the spot, just like that. She's really, really good at making up songs!

Maggie was amazed

"Rose's" dad can be a tough audience but...

...the rest of us love, love, loved it!

Then "Rose" made Johnny Mike a card! All by her own little hands! (She's really, really good at making cards too...she's in Kindergarten you know!)

We grilled flat iron steak

the marinade....

The recipe for the marinade/rub is:
2 T Chili powder
2 T packed brown sugar
1 T ground cumin
2 t garlic
2 t cider vinegar
1 t worcestershire sauce
1/4 t ground red pepper

Combine all ingredients in small bowl. Press evenly onto flat iron beef steak. Grill over hot heat 7-8 minutes each side. Let set x 5 minutes then slice across grain.

Southwestern Rub is okay but Spicer prefers a tummy Rub!

For dessert we had PB Bars in honor of the new P B kisskiss blog!

2 1/2 C graham crumbs

1 C Peanut Butter

2 3/4 C powdered sugar

Combine with 1 C melted butter and ...

...when well mixed press into 9X13 pan

Then melt 12 ounce package of milk chocolate or regular chips in micro

Spread Chocolate and put in freezer X 10 minutes then slice.

So that was our Saturday. Pretty sweet, right?

"Dad, don't call this dead cow...

...I'm eating meat!"

  1. What a fun Saturday!
Rose has grown sooo much since we have seen her last!
    PB bars look delicious!

  2. Rose is a doll baby!! How cute is that! What a fun day! What is a flat iron beef steak?? You just made this Spring weather day even Springier with all your fun you had!!

  3. Can I tell you how much I long for a Saturday like this? With my hubby gone it's so lonely and I can't wait for him to come home so we can do the normal things like working in the yard together and grilling. Seems like you had a great day!!

  4. Great Saturday with family! :-) Your PB bars sounds delicious! I will have to try those.
